Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026 · Operated by Chrono Travel, LLC.
Writezu is built to keep your work private. This policy explains the little we collect and why.
The short version
Your documents, PDFs, slides, notes, and images stay on your own computer. They are never uploaded to us. The only personal information we hold is the email address tied to your account — and, if you sign in with Google or Microsoft, the name on that account.
What we collect
- Your email address — to create your account, verify it, let you sign in, and reach you about your account (for example, a password-reset link).
- A password — if you sign up with email, we store only a securely hashed version; we never see your actual password. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we don't handle a password at all.
- From Google or Microsoft, if you sign in with them — your email address, the name on the account, and the account's ID, which is how we recognise you the next time. We ask for nothing else: not your contacts, files, calendar or anything in your Google or Microsoft account. Writezu's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Basic account activity — such as when you last signed in — to keep the service working.
What we do not collect
- Your files. Everything you create or open in Writezu is processed and saved locally on your device. It never touches our servers.
- Your content, for training or ads. We don't read, sell, or share what you write.
Optional features you control
- GitHub sync. If you choose to sync your work, it goes directly between your device and your own GitHub account — never through us.
- AI assistance. AI is off unless you enable it with your own provider key. When you use it, the text you select is sent to the AI provider you chose, under their terms — not to us.
Going live: YouTube, Twitch, Kick and Facebook
Writezu's Go Live studio can stream to the services you choose. You can paste a stream key, or sign in to a service so Writezu can set the stream up for you. When you sign in:
- Your stream goes straight from your computer to the service. The picture and sound are never sent to us.
- Your sign-in is kept on your computer, in Windows Credential Manager, and not on our servers. Our accounts server holds Writezu's own app registration with each service, so it takes part in signing in and in renewing a sign-in. It hands the sign-in to your copy of Writezu once, then deletes it. One that isn't collected within ten minutes is never handed over, and is discarded.
- Writezu asks each service only for what going live needs:
- YouTube (permission to manage your YouTube account). This is used only to make a live broadcast and the stream for it, give it the title and privacy you chose, start it, and end or delete it afterwards. Writezu doesn't read, change or delete your videos, comments or other channel data. Writezu uses YouTube API Services. Its use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See also the Google Privacy Policy.
- Twitch: your channel's stream key, and permission to set the stream's title.
- Kick: your user and channel details, your stream key, and permission to set the stream's title.
- Facebook: the list of Pages you manage, and permission to make, end and delete live videos on the Page you choose. Writezu doesn't post anything else and doesn't read your profile.
- What Writezu shows from them is your account's name and your Pages' names, so you can tell which account is signed in. These stay on your computer too.
- None of it is used for ads, sold or shared. It is used only to send your stream where you asked.
The upload check. When you click "Check upload" in Go Live, Writezu sends a few seconds of meaningless data to Cloudflare's speed test (speed.cloudflare.com) to measure your connection. Nothing of yours is in it.
Removing Writezu's access
Click Sign out on a service in Go Live, and Writezu deletes that sign-in from your computer at once. You can also remove Writezu's access from the service itself at any time:
- Google and YouTube: Google Account → Third-party apps & services
- Twitch: Settings → Connections
- Facebook: Settings → Business integrations
- Kick: Settings → Connections
Deleting your data
Your streaming sign-ins are on your computer only: Sign out in Writezu removes them. They can also be removed by hand in Windows Credential Manager, where their names end in com.writezu.stream. To delete your Writezu account, and with it your email and account record, email support@writezu.com from the address on the account. We'll confirm when it's done, within 30 days. We hold nothing from YouTube, Twitch, Kick or Facebook to delete.
Email & sharing
We use your email only to operate your account. We don't sell your information or share it with advertisers. We may use trusted service providers (for example, to send account emails) strictly to run the service.
Your choices
You can delete your account at any time, which removes your email and account record from our systems. Your local files are yours to keep or delete on your own device.
